James Heathcote

Associate Director

James is a private client tax specialist, advising high net worth individuals, families and family offices. In particular, he has extensive experience of working with international private clients across a broad spectrum of areas, ranging from residence, domicile and trusts, to inheritance tax and succession planning. He has coordinated complex cross-border projects with a particular focus on multigenerational family businesses in the EMEIA (Europe, Middle East, India and Africa) region.

Having worked for both, Deloitte and Ernst & Young before joining Lancaster Knox in 2019, James has advised some of the largest, most influential and most recognisable names in the private client world.  He is a member of the Association of Tax Technicians, the Chartered Institute of Taxation (for whom he is also a Branch Chair) and the Family Firm Institute (FFI). In 2018, James completed the FFI’s Certificate in Family Business Advising, covering a diverse range of topics including; family constitutions and conflict resolution, along with managing complex succession issues for business-owning families.  James also holds a BA in Languages & Linguistics from the University of York, and has worked and studied in Beijing and Shanghai.

In his role as Associate Director, James also works closely with teams within the wider Knox group of companies, enabling clients in the UK, the Crown Dependencies and beyond to benefit from the group’s holistic approach to wealth management.
